Today, on October 25th, Syracuse University hosted National Portfolio Review Day, where prospective students got to show off their work to various colleges, universities and institutes. I got up at about 5:00 this morning, and my dad and I drove 3 hours south in order to attend. It was quite a stimulating experience, getting to meet with various reps and talk about my artwork, what it says about me, and what sorts of opportunities would be available at their college. I think I rather enjoyed the experience, even if I was quite fatigued by the end (lack of food and sleep will do that to you).
After the Portfolio reviewing was over, we all got to see some people pour molten rock on ice. It was apparently some sort of Earth Science experiment as well as a sculpture project. The results were supposedly similar to what you'd expect if lava from a volcano flowed over a glacier. It was pretty cool.
